Peter Smidt is the Founder and Creative Director of EuroSonic Noorderslag and organizer of the EuroSonic Noorderslag Conference, the 29th edition of which took place this January featuring over 300 promising European acts and bands presenting themselves to an audience of 35,000 music lovers and professionals (including over 1,500 international delegates) over the span of four days in Groningen, Netherlands.
Peter started working for Buma Cultuur, the BUMA-funded organization for the promotion of Dutch music and repertoire in and outside of Holland, in 1995. Buma Cultuur is partner and co-organizer of EuroSonic Noorderslag and is organizing the EuroSonic Noorderslag Conference, the annual Musicians Day and Amsterdam dance events Buma Rotterdam Beats, Jazzdag, Toonzetters and many other events to promote Dutch repertoire both in and outside of the Netherlands. Peter is responsible for the export policy and European policy at Buma Cultuur and works in close cooperation with the European Music Office (EMO), where he is currently a boardmember and initiated the European Tour Support Plan (ETSP) and European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP) program.
