Biography

Ritch Esra brings over three decades of expertise to the music industry as the Publisher of The Music Registry and Co-Founder of MUBUTV. His pioneering work with The Music Business Registry—encompassing The A&R Registry, The Publisher Registry, The Music Business Attorney Registry, The Artist Manager Registry, and The Film & Television Music Guide—has set the standard for industry reference tools.

Esra’s career began at A&M Records as a promotion coordinator in 1980, followed by his role as Director of West Coast A&R at Arista Records from 1981 to 1987. During this time, he signed prominent acts like The Thompson Twins and Mara Getz and collaborated on projects for Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and others. He also managed music for major soundtracks, including “Ghostbusters” and “Perfect.”

From 1987 to 1992, Esra’s independent ventures included producing the acclaimed educational video “How to Get a Record Deal,” featuring insights from industry leaders and major artists. In 2012, he co-founded MUBUTV, an educational YouTube channel for artists.

Esra has also shared his knowledge through teaching at Musicians Institute, SAE Institute, and UCLA Extension. His extensive career and contributions continue to shape and support the global music industry.
