Reynold D’Silva

Founder & CEO, Silva Screen Group

Biography

Reynold D’Silva, the visionary Founder & CEO of the Silva Screen Group, is one of the music industry’s most dynamic and enduring creative entrepreneurs. With a remarkable career spanning over five decades, D’Silva has shaped the landscape of music, film, and television soundtracks with unparalleled passion, innovation, and global influence.

Born in Bombay in 1955, Reynold began his journey as a teenage bass player at India’s first disco before moving to London, where he would hone his curatorial instincts at the iconic HMV store on Oxford Street. In 1986, he officially launched Silva Screen Records, setting out to build the world’s leading soundtrack label—an ambition realized through groundbreaking releases such as Lawrence of Arabia, Alien, The Godfather, and BBC franchises including Doctor Who and Sherlock.

D’Silva’s entrepreneurial foresight led to the development of new markets—from ringtone licensing and synchronization to launching divisions like Silva Classics and Hip Bop and acquiring CMP and the alternative-leaning SO Recordings. The label’s roster spans cinematic legends and contemporary icons, including Englebert Humperdinck, Placebo, Enter Shikari, Public Service Broadcasting, and Petula Clark.

With more than 1,000 album releases, a catalog of 200,000+ works via Supreme Songs, and ownership of publishing rights for major South Asian music companies, D’Silva’s contributions extend across cultures and continents. His projects as a producer and executive producer—The Beatles in India, Audrey, and the award-winning General Magic—further underscore his multidisciplinary vision.

He also helped preserve a piece of music history by acquiring the Montagu Square apartment once home to Lennon, McCartney, Hendrix, and Starr, which received a Blue Plaque from English Heritage in 2010.

As Silva Screen celebrates its 40th anniversary and D’Silva celebrates 50 years in the music business, and approaches 70, his commitment to artistic excellence, global collaboration, and independent spirit continues to inspire the next generation of innovators.

The MUSEXPO 2026 “Lifetime Achievement Award” luncheon will honor Reynold D’Silva’s extraordinary legacy, celebrating a trailblazer who has bridged the worlds of film, television, classical, rock, and beyond—while always staying true to his independent heart and musical soul.
