Biography

Michael Goldstone, Founder & Owner of Mom+Pop Music, boasts a distinguished career spanning over 16 years with his independent label. Renowned for his exceptional A&R skills, Goldstone has been praised by Director Cameron Crowe as having the “Golden Ears.” His influence on American music is profound, with notable signings including Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Regina Spektor, Tegan & Sara, and Mother Love Bone.

Goldstone’s career began in the mailroom at Chrysalis Records, where he advanced through roles in publicity, marketing, and artist development, working with iconic acts such as Blondie and Pat Benatar. He transitioned to A&R roles at MCA Records and PolyGram, signing key artists like Charlie Sexton and Mother Love Bone. At Epic Records, he signed and developed Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine and contributed to the soundtrack of Singles.

Goldstone’s impact continued at DreamWorks Records, where he helped build the A&R and marketing teams and signed platinum artists Buckcherry and The All-American Rejects. His tenure at Sire Records included signing Regina Spektor, Tegan and Sara, and other notable acts.

In 2009, Goldstone founded Mom+Pop Music, signing artists such as Ashe, Courtney Barnett, and Flume. The label’s success is evidenced by its growing roster and accolades, including the 2022 A2iM Libera Award for Label of the Year.
