Jen Malone is a highly acclaimed music supervisor and the head of Black & White Music, an all-female full-service music supervision company. Starting her career as a music publicist, Malone founded Black & White PR in 2000, a boutique indie rock public relations firm based in Boston. In 2009, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue music supervision, securing an internship at Format Entertainment under the mentorship of renowned music supervisor Dave Jordan. Her journey has led her to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after music supervisors.
Jen Malone and her team have been behind some of the most iconic needle drops in recent television and film history, with credits including Euphoria, Wednesday, Atlanta, The Penguin, John Wick Chapter 4, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Umbrella Academy, Hysteria!, ZOLA, and The Offer. Her placements have resulted in unprecedented boosts and Shazam surges for artists worldwide.
Her work on Euphoria drove music bumps of up to 2,316% and Shazam searches spiking up to 10,000% for featured songs. Malone was instrumental in the success of Netflix’s biggest English-language series Wednesday by placing The Cramps’ song “Goo Goo Muck,” which spurred the viral “Wednesday Dance” phenomenon.
Jen Malone has been nominated for an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Music Supervision” for Atlanta in 2018, in 2020 for Euphoria, and again in 2022 for Euphoria Season 2. In 2019, she received the Guild Of Music Supervisors Award for “Best Music Supervision – Drama” for her work on Euphoria and for “Best Music Supervision – Film Budgeted Under 5 Million” for Zola. She was also nominated for Malcolm & Marie in the same category in 2022. In 2024, Jen received her fourth Emmy nomination for Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Jen is the only music supervisor to have been nominated multiple times for three different shows.
