Jane Bushmaker

Director, DSP Audit, Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC)  

Jane Bushmaker is Director, DSP Audit at the Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC), where she oversees The MLC’s royalty compliance audits of digital service providers (DSPs). Her work plays a vital role in enabling The MLC to fulfill its mission of ensuring that songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers receive their mechanical royalties from U.S. streaming and download services accurately.

Since joining The MLC in 2022, Jane has applied her in-depth knowledge of royalty compliance, digital platforms, and copyright law to enhance audit strategies and ensure The MLC exercises its audit rights for music creators. Prior to her role at The MLC, she served as Director of Royalty Audit & Contract Compliance at Adeptus Partners, LLC and Prager Metis CPAs, where she conducted royalty and contract compliance audits for clients across the entertainment and technology industries. She also served as Senior Manager, Digital Audits at Royalty Review Council.

In addition to her work at The MLC, Jane is an active volunteer in the music and entertainment industry. She has served as an elected Board Member for the California Copyright Conference, and is also a member of the Anomaly Reporting (formerly Fraudulent Streams) Ad hoc Working Group at DDEX, a global standards-setting organization for the digital music value chain, where she works to combat fraudulent activity in the industry.

Jane’s expertise in royalties, technology, and compliance has made her a trusted advisor to major intellectual property owners, licensors, and royalty collection organizations around the world, including the U.S. Copyright Office during its unclaimed royalties study.
