Delmar Powell, Vice President of A&R at Position Music, sets the bar for excellence with visionary leadership and an unmatched track record. With prior senior roles at Downtown Music Publishing and Republic Records, Powell has consistently identified and developed world-class talent. His signings include Grammy-nominated producers Dez Wright (Drake, Kendrick Lamar) and Tee Romano (Megan Thee Stallion, Chris Brown), as well as collaborations with industry icons like Hailee Steinfeld, Kiana Ledé, Zendaya, and Marc E. Bassy. Powell also served as A&R liaison for NBC’s The Voice, further solidifying his reputation as a trusted innovator in the industry.
Early in his career, Powell discovered an 18-year-old PC Prince Chrishan of MAKASOUND (Chris Brown, Kanye West, Usher, Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih), a hitmaker whose contributions have helped sell over 75 million records globally.
Since joining Position Music, Powell has made a remarkable impact. He was instrumental in the viral success of “Money on The Dash” (150 million-plus streams) for Elley Duhé, signed Grammy-nominated producer Alex Abomb of CASHAE (Metro Boomin’s Spider-Man Soundtrack, Eladio Carrión), and brought hip-hop producer Austin Powerz (1.7 billion-plus streams; Drake, Meek Mill, Polo G) to the roster. Powell also manages producer and songwriter Brian “Killah B” Bates, whose credits include Beyoncé’s Texas Hold Em (five 2025 Grammy nominations) and Ariana Grande’s Positions.
In 2024, Powell expanded Position Music’s global influence by signing groundbreaking acts like America’s favorite rock band Polyphia, R&B sensation Tinashe—who scored two weeks at No.1 on Rhythmic Radio with her breakout hit “Nasty,” hip-hop trailblazer Diego Ave, and internet guitar prodigy RJ Pasin.
With an exceptional ability to spot and nurture talent across hip-hop, R&B, pop, Latin, and rock, Powell is guiding Position Music into a new era of innovation and impact. His leadership continues to transform the company into a global music powerhouse, setting the industry standard for excellence.
