Dave Jordan

Founder & CEO, Format Entertainment

Biography

Dave Jordan is the Founder and CEO of Format Entertainment, the industry’s largest collective of theatrical and television music supervisors. Beginning his career at record labels, Dave quickly transitioned into music supervision, becoming one of the most prolific figures in the field. His credits include globally successful franchises such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Man, Avengers, Black Panther, and Transformers, earning him the distinction of being the top-grossing music supervisor in film history.

Since founding Format in 2001, Dave has led the company’s evolution from a music supervision firm into a full-service creative agency. Under his leadership, Format has delivered chart-topping soundtracks—including A Star is Born, Pitch Perfect, Black Panther, and Guardians of the Galaxy—and earned numerous Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Guild of Music Supervisors accolades, alongside Oscar and Emmy nominations.

Format has played a central role in Marvel Studios’ music strategy since 2000, overseeing all 37 films and 14 Disney+ series. Beyond film and television, the company works with major global brands like Mattel, Netflix, ESPN, and T-Mobile to create distinct and meaningful sonic identities.

Recognizing a need for original music solutions in the sync space, Dave launched The Math Club under Format, which now serves as a trusted source of custom music for top-tier productions. The Math Club’s work has been featured in The White Lotus, Hacks, Atlanta, WandaVision, Crazy Rich Asians, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, among many others.

Dave is a founding member of the Guild of Music Supervisors and a former member of the Recording Academy’s Los Angeles Board of Governors. He most recently received an NAACP Image Award for his contributions to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
