Founder, The Math Club / Music Producer & Creative Director, Format Entertainment

Biography

Cheapshot is a seasoned music producer and the visionary behind The Math Club, a premier collective of composers, producers, and songwriters known for creating high-impact original music for film, television, and brands.

He began his career in the late 1990s as a founding member of the Los Angeles underground rap group Styles of Beyond, helping shape their gritty, experimental take on West Coast Hip-Hop. The group’s 1997 debut, 2000 Fold, gained cult acclaim and later catapulted into the mainstream through collaborations with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda on the platinum-selling Fort Minor project, including the Billboard hit “Remember the Name.”

Transitioning from recording artist to media composer, Cheapshot founded The Math Club to bring together elite music creators capable of producing for a wide spectrum of visual media. Under his leadership, The Math Club has composed and licensed music for major campaigns and critically acclaimed productions such as Euphoria, Empire, Shazam, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Crazy Rich Asians, Amazon, and Adidas.

Beyond media scoring, Cheapshot continues to champion Hip-Hop’s legacy through The Math Club’s conceptual series History Class—a collection of original collaborations with legendary MCs like Masta Ace, Onyx, Chubb Rock, and Special Ed. Entirely produced and engineered in-house, the project merges classic styles with contemporary production, honoring the genre’s roots while pushing it forward.

With a rare blend of creative instinct, technical precision, and leadership, Cheapshot has positioned The Math Club as a trusted source for genre-spanning, culturally resonant music. His work reflects a commitment to craft, storytelling, and the enduring power of sound to define moments on screen and in culture.
