Biography

Anton Monsted is a distinguished film music executive based in Los Angeles, currently serving as the Head of Music for Original Movies (U.S.) at Amazon MGM Studios. With a rich background in music supervision and production, Anton has played a pivotal role in shaping the soundtracks of numerous acclaimed films.

Anton began his career in the film industry as an assistant to Baz Luhrmann on the iconic 1996 adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. During this collaboration, he and Luhrmann released the compilation album Something for Everybody, which featured the surprise hit “Everybody’s Free (to wear sunscreen),” famously known as “The Sunscreen Song.” This success paved the way for Anton to take on the role of Music Supervisor and Executive Music Producer for Luhrmann’s next project, Moulin Rouge!. He continued to collaborate with Luhrmann on subsequent films, including Australia, The Great Gatsby, and ELVIS.

In 2013, Anton relocated to Los Angeles to serve as Senior Vice President of Music at Twentieth Century Fox, where he further honed his expertise. In 2018, he joined the senior leadership team at Capitol Music Group as Executive Vice President, Soundtracks. In 2021, he reunited with Luhrmann to music supervise ELVIS for Warner Bros. Pictures before joining Amazon MGM Studios in 2022.
