As the Emmy Award-winning Senior Vice President of Television Music for DreamWorks Animation, Alex Nickson oversees the musical creative direction for the studio’s slate of original streaming and preschool film projects, including content for Netflix, Apple TV, Peacock and Hulu.

Recent projects include Gabby’s Dollhouse and Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, The Bad Guys: Breaking In, as well as Emmy-winning work on Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight and an Emmy nomination for her music supervision on the Netflix feature Orion and the Dark.

Prior to joining DWA in 2013, Alex oversaw music for Freeform series, original movies and marketing campaigns, and previously held music executive roles at MGM Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and The Walt Disney Company.

In addition to her executive work, Alex is an adjunct professor for University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, from where she also holds a BS in Music Industry. She is a voting member of the Recording Academy and currently resides in Santa Clarita, CA with her husband and two children.
