Biography

Steve Schnur is a two-time GRAMMY-winning music executive, producer, music supervisor, composer, songwriter, and industry advocate whose career has helped redefine the role of music in interactive entertainment and popular culture. As Worldwide President of Music and Marketing at Electronic Arts (EA), he oversees music and marketing across soundtracks, original scores, trailers, advertising, live events, publishing and production for some of the world’s most influential entertainment franchises, including Madden NFL, FIFA/EA FC, Need for Speed, The Sims, Star Wars, Battlefield, Mass Effect, F1, Medal of Honor and EA Sports College Football.

A pioneering tastemaker, Schnur revolutionized the commissioning of original music for game launch trailers, helped establish interactive music as a respected art form, and played a central role in creating the GRAMMY category for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. His work has contributed to chart-topping and GRAMMY-winning music while helping launch and elevate the careers of artists, composers and creators across rock, pop, country, hip-hop and beyond. His collaborations span acclaimed composers including Hans Zimmer, Michael Giacchino, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Kris Bowers, Mark Mothersbaugh, Stephen Barton, Gordy Haab and Junkie XL.

Schnur has received more than 200 awards and honors, including the 2024 G.A.N.G. Lifetime Achievement Award, the 2024 GRAMMY for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and the 2025 GRAMMY for Jimmy Carter’s Last Sundays in Plains. He has also received the Society of Composers & Lyricists Trailblazer Award, the California Copyright Conference Apollo Award, and honors from The Kennedy Center, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Clio Awards and the International Game Developers Association. He has earned nine Guild of Music Supervisors nominations and five wins, while being recognized by Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and Variety among the entertainment industry’s leading creative and business figures.

Through his partnership with the Society of Composers & Lyricists, Schnur created the Music City Maestro Award and the EA Game Changer Series, celebrating composers and exploring the intersection of music, technology, and storytelling. With Berklee College of Music, he established the EA/Berklee Charting Change Scholarship supporting women and non-cisgender composers, co-created an annual event celebrating women composers, and developed and teaches the online course Level Up: The Business of Videogame Music.

A committed industry advocate and mentor, Schnur has been appointed by two Tennessee Governors to the Tennessee Entertainment Commission and has served as a Governor of both the Nashville and Los Angeles chapters of the Recording Academy. His leadership and board service have included the City of Hope Entertainment Division, Country Music Association, Belmont University Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music, GRAMMY Producers & Engineers Wing, Major League Soccer as Music Advisor, and the GRAMMY Foundation, where he served as both Chairman and Chairman Emeritus. He has also co-chaired City of Hope’s annual Songs of Hope event. Through four decades of creative leadership, Schnur continues to shape how music creates emotion, identity, and connection across contemporary culture.
