Biography

A legendary tastemaker and “encyclopedic” authority on rock history, Matt Pinfield has spent four decades at the epicenter of the music industry. From his early days as a pioneering Music Director at WHTG, winning back-to-back Gavin Awards, to his era-defining tenure as the host of MTV’s 120 Minutes, Pinfield has shaped the global musical landscape across every medium.

His diverse career spans executive leadership as the former VP of A&R and Artist Development at Columbia Records, where he worked alongside icons like David Bowie, and literary success as the author of the best-selling memoir All These Things That I’ve Done. His life even served as the inspiration for The Killers’ hit single of the same name.

A former member of the Recording Academy Board of Governors and an honoree of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Pinfield remains the industry’s premier interviewer, having sat down with everyone from Paul McCartney to Dave Grohl. He currently serves as a lead host and music expert for AXS TV, hosts New & Approved on KLOS Los Angeles, and fronts the long-running syndicated program Flashback for Westwood One.
