Biography

Gaurav Sharma is the Founder and CEO of Hook, an innovative AI-powered social music platform that enables fans to legally create and share remixes of popular songs on social media, while ensuring fair compensation for rights holders. Under his leadership, Hook is redefining the intersection of music, technology, and social media engagement.

With a rich background in music technology and digital innovation, Sharma has a proven track record of building platforms that align with the evolving needs of the music industry. Prior to founding Hook, he served as the Chief Operating Officer at JioSaavn, India’s largest music streaming platform. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in securing global streaming licenses with major record labels and contributed to growing the platform to over 100 million active monthly users.

Before his time at JioSaavn, Gaurav held leadership roles in various tech-driven ventures. He was the Director of Product Development at Awaaaz.com, a music-focused startup funded by Harvard University, and worked in A&R and lifestyle marketing at Sony Music Entertainment. He also co-founded Pinpuff, an analytics platform for Pinterest, which was acquired by Science Inc., and HelloSociety, an influencer marketing agency acquired by The New York Times.

Sharma is an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University and The Peabody Conservatory, and he is passionate about leveraging AI to empower creators and transform the music industry.
